Episode 56: Sarah Garnett on The Footpath Library, the not-for-profit she founded in 2003 to provide books to homeless people.

 

Food for the mind and soul” . That is what Sarah Garnett, who founded the not-for-profit The Footpath Library in 2003 to provide books to homeless people, calls booksDispelling myths that homeless people are illiterate or uneducated, she and her team of volunteers turn up with their van to Sydney’s Martin Place each Tuesday night (COVID permitting) and hand out books, reading  glasses and tea and coffee to people experiencing homelessness. The Footpath Library also operates in Melbourne and Perth, giving away about 3000 books each year, enriching the lives of their clients and making them feel loved. Sarah is a passionate advocate for her clients and this is a powerful and inspiring conversation.
