Much-admired social scientist Hugh Mackay has been writing for some years about how Australia might become a more compassionate, tolerant, forgiving country. His latest book, The Kindness Revolution, the culmination of his earlier work, is a plea for what he calls in this interview “a more radical, revolutionary idea of kindness”. Hugh, who believes that our capacity for kindness is humanity’s greatest asset, considers the many acts of kindness he has witnessed during the COVID pandemic and asks - could we live like that all the time? Here he talks about how the “kindness revolution” might begin, and how we might each play our part. A wonderfully enriching, inspiring conversation.
